María Teresa Corradini de Barbera:

María Teresa summarizes 57 years of Italian gastronomy in Mendoza. She began to work together with my “Nonna Fernanda”. Fernanda Torresi de Corradini was an Italian immigrant who arrived with her children and with her bravery on her shoulders in 1948. Their solid purpose of being successful made them the first persons who offered Italian food in Mendoza.

Anything occurs by chance. Like a wine is able to spread the trace of those that accompanied it from the vine to the bottle, food is like a union and outcome of a long process in which tenths of persons contribute with their work. Francesco is the exclusive restaurant of the Barbera family where María Teresa puts at the disposal of gastronomy all her creativity and experience. Therefore, the most delicious dish of life grows with the aromas of condiments and the tastes of gratitude to this land: Sharing with friends in the house.

  • 1950: “La Marchigiana” Ristorante opens.
  • 1954: She marries Francesco Barbera, they have seven children (two of them died.)
  • 1968: The Cantina “Da Nonna Fernanda” opens.
  • 1969: “Vecchia Roma” Restaurant opens and in 1972 the hotel with the same name opens.
  • 1988: “La Marchigiana” reopens.
  • 1990: The Chase Manhattan Bar opens in the city centre of Mendoza.
  • 1993: “Las Pastas” Trattoria opens.
  • 1995: “La Marchigiana” Restaurant opens in the Palmares Open Mall, her son, Fernando Barbera Corradini, is the manager.
  • 1998: Farinatta (pasta fast food) opens at the Mendoza Plaza Shopping.
  • 2001: The Government of Italy grants her the “Caballiere del Lavoro” award.
  • Between 2002 and 2003: The Italy Inn Restaurant opens in Reñaca, Chile.
  • 2004: The important Francesco Ristorante ∙ Barbera successfully opens.
  • May 2006: La Marchigiana Restaurant of Patricias Mendocinas Street reopens.

As regards culinary teaching, she participates in:

  • 1978: Buen Día Mendoza programme broadcasted by LV8 Libertador Radio Station.
  • 1979: Corrieri degli Italiani with international cuisine recipes.
  • 1978 - 1982: Los Andes Sunday newspaper of the province of Mendoza.
  • 1982 - 1984: Mendoza-Hoy Sunday newspaper.
  • 1982: She is invited four times to channel 11 of Santiago, Chile.
  • 1986: She is invited seven times to Buenos Tardes Mucho Gusto programme, broadcasted from Buenos Aires to all country.
  • 1992 – 1993: Special recipes are published in the Primera Fila magazine.
  • 1992: She teaches cooking courses in the Women Sector of the Prison and she also teaches to collect funds for Libertas Sport.
  • 1993: She teaches one-week special course at the Dante Alighieri Institute.

She taught all the courses for free.
